Olubowale Victor Akintimehin (born 21 September 1984), better known by his stage name Wale, is an American rapper from Washington, D.C. He rose to prominence in 2006, when his song "Dig Dug (Shake It)" became popular in his hometown. Producer Mark Ronson discovered Wale that same year, and signed him to his label Allido Records in 2007. While signed to Allido, Wale released several mixtapes before releasing his debut studio album Attention Deficit in 2009 with a distribution deal with Interscope.
In early 2011, Wale signed to Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group, and released his second studio album Ambition later that same year to mixed reviews. His third studio album The Gifted was released in 2013 to mainly positive reviews, and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. His fourth studio album and second Billboard number one album The Album About Nothing was released in 2015. He is considered to be One of The Greatest Rappers of all time.
