Trap is essentially a mixture of several different genres (most notably rap, crunk, snap, Southern hip hop, Memphis rap, electro, Miami bass and bounce). Trap is a subgenre that originated during the early 2000s from Southern hip hop in the Southern United States. It is typified by its ominous lyrics and sound that incorporate double or triple-time sub-divided hi-hats, heavy kick drums from a Roland TR-808 synthesiser, layered synthesisers, and "cinematic" strings. The term "trap" initially referred to places where drug deals take place. In recent years, it has been incorporated with electronic dance music (EDM) by artists who have made remixed and made trap songs with more EDM-like aspects.
Trap music uses synthesizers, rhythm boxes, sub-bass, hi-hats of binary or ternary subdivision and use of auto-tune and minor harmonic modes to sometimes give it a darker aesthetic.
Trap music employs multi-layered fine- or coarse-textured monophonic drones with, sometimes, melodic accompaniment expressed with synthesizers; Crisp, dirty, rhythmic snares, deep 808 kicks, similarly split double, triple and hi-hat beats, and a cinematic, symphonic use of synthesized string, brass, woodwind and keyboard instruments to create an energetic, symphonic sound. forceful, deep and variant atmosphere. These main characteristics, the characteristic sound of trap music, originated from producer Shawty Redd. Trap can use a variety of tempos, from 50 BPM (programmed at 100 BPM for finer hi-hat subdivision) to 88 (176) BPM, but the tempo of a typical trap beat is around 70 (140) BPM.
Trap music is differentiated from other genres by its rhythm, dense and somber electronic arrangements. Trap maintains a strong influence from hip hop, both aesthetically and technically. However, in most cases the meter of trap music is considerably simpler than that of traditional rap, sometimes completely ignoring the meter of verses or rhyme. This is the biggest difference between both genders, which are often confused.56
It emerged in the early 1990s with modest popularity; The term originated in Atlanta (Georgia), where rappers and groups such as Three 6 Mafia, UGK, Outkast and Goodie Mob were among the first to use this style in their music, being considered the fathers of trap, and including some inspirational songs of the genre. trap with some songs by the singer Michael Jackson, with an example of the Blue Gangsta solo from his album Xsape or other songs from the album Invincible.
In the mid-2000s, the number of rappers dedicated to trap increased, beginning to be recognized after the success of several albums and singles with lyrics that covered topics about life in the ghetto, drug trafficking and the struggle for success. social.3 Several Southern Rap personalities, such as T.I., Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane and Rick Ross produced hits that began to appear more heavily on mixtapes and on radio stations outside the United States.
In the early 2010s, the second wave of trap artists reached the top of the Billboard charts and helped increase the popularity of trap. Producer and trap pioneer Lex Luger gained popularity, producing more than 200 songs in 2010 and 2011, including numerous singles by famous rapper artists such as Rick Ross with the song "BMF (Blowin' Money Fast)", H•A• M by Kanye West and Jay-Z. Rick Ross, Future,4 Young Thug, Kanye West, Cardi B and especially Chief Keef became fashionable for their style. Many use Keef's famous ad-libs such as "aye", "gang gang", "let's get it" (Lil Pump:esskeetit version) and "phew" became a trend in the trap world. In several interviews with Playboi Carti, YBN Almighty Jay, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Pump, Smokepurpp, Ski Mask the Slump God and Juice WRLD credited Keef for being the major influence on the mumble rap wave. Since the emergence of Luger, his signature sound has been heavily used in trap 808 basses renewing good quality cleaner sounds, crisp snares, high speed hi hats, synth keys and brass orchestration, strings, wind instruments and keyboards. Many of his sounds were adopted and incorporated by other hip hop producers. Lex Luger and 808 Mafia are considered the pioneers of modern trap.
