Michael Charles Robinson (June 2, 1971 - July 22, 1991), better known by his stage name The Mac, was an American rapper and record producer from Vallejo, California. He released two EPs on independent label Strictly Business Records from 1988 to 1990. Robinson was producer Khayree's first hip hop artist, and emerged as one of the Bay Area's first hip hop successes.[1] Robinson served as a mentor to Mac Dre and an influence to Mac Mall, both of whom were named in his honor.

In 1991, Robinson was fatally shot in his parked car while talking with his girlfriend. The murder was later said to be a case of mistaken identity. He had one daughter, Reina and one son, Michael Robinson Jr.
