Little Brother chronology

The Minstrel Show (2005)

The Listening is the debut album by American hip hop group Little Brother, released in 2003 on ABB Records. The album is produced entirely by 9th Wonder, with one song co-produced with Eccentric, while the lyrics are performed by group members Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh. The album's sole guest appearance is supplied by fellow Justus League member Median. The underlying theme of The Listening concerns the group's effort to engage their listeners on a deeper level, and their frustration at casual listeners who pay little attention to lyrics and content and simply want to hear a "hot song".

The album became a sensation in the underground hip hop scene and, although it failed to chart, was critically acclaimed. "Whatever You Say" and "The Way You Do It" were released as singles.
