"The Formula" is a song by American rapper The D.O.C., released in 1989 on Ruthless Records. It is the third single released from his debut album, No One Can Do It Better. The song was produced by Dr. Dre, who also makes a brief vocal appearance, and contains samples from Marvin Gaye's 1971 song "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)".
It reached number 76 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart in April 1990.
