The Fat Boys was an American hip hop group from Brooklyn, New York. The group originally consisted of Buff Love, Prince Markie Dee and Kool Rock-Ski. The group's self-titled debut is considered by many to be an early hip hop classic. Capitilising on their good-humored personalities, the trio starred in the 1985 Run-D.M.C. movie Krush Groove and Disorderlies in 1987.
The group's popularity ballooned by the 1990s. Prince Markie Dee left the group to pursue solo interests, including producing early songs for Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige. The remaining two members carried on as a duo to release the album Mack Daddy in 1991, but disbanded shortly after. Buff Love died of a heart attack on December 10, 1995.
In 2008, Prince Markie Dee and Kool Rock-Ski reunited to reform The Fat Boys. Prince Markie Dee died on February 18, 2021.
