The Boy Genius is the debut studio album by American Hip hop artist Kwamé featuring The New Beginning. It was released in January 31, 1989 through Atlantic Records. Recording sessions took place at Bayside Sound Studios in Queens, New York City from August to November 1988. Production was handled solely by Hurby Luv Bug and The Invincibles.
The album debuted at #114 on the US Billboard 200 and #13 on the R&B Albums chart in the United States. The Boy Genius spawned the singles: "The Man We All Know and Love" (which peaked at #33 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and #2 on the Hot Rap Singles chart), "The Rhythm" and "Sweet Thing" (which both of the songs peaked at #7 and #20 on the Hot Rap Singles chart in the United States).
