Daniel Alan Maman (born 25 October 1977), better known by his stage name The Alchemist, is an American record producer, DJ, and rapper from Beverly Hills, California. He began his music career in 1991 under the moniker Mudfoot in the hip hop duo The Whooliganz alongside now-actor Scott "Mad Skillz" Caan. After rising to prominence in the late 1990s as a close associate of Dilated Peoples and Mobb Deep, The Alchemist went on to produce for many of hip hop's leading artists in the 2000s and is now one of the genre's leading record producers. He is currently working as a DJ for Eminem and works as an in-house record producer for Shady Records.
