He is best known for being a member of the duo Smif-n-Wessun and the collective Boot Camp Clik. Tek debuted on Black Moon's 1993 album Enta da Stage alongside fellow Smif-n-Wessun member Steele. The following year, Smif-n-Wessun's debut single "Bucktown" become a Billboard Hot 100 hit.
