Done by the Forces of Nature (1989)

Straight out the Jungle is the debut album by American hip hop group Jungle Brothers, released in 1988 on Idlers Records. The album marked the beginning of the Native Tongues collective, as its alternative sound would inspire other members of the group. It also features the debut album appearance of Q-Tip.

The album was recorded largely without the use of a sampler, instead a beat would by laid down straight off of the records they were using as source material. Group member Afrika Baby Bam explained this by saying a song would be looped "around by hand, eight bars at a time, until you had six minutes on tape, so there'd be enough music to do your rhymes before it ran out... I just had one copy of each record. That's the way most of the album was done."

The album peaked at #39 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The single "I'll House You", added to the album in later repressings, is known as the first non-Chicago hip-house record to be a sufficently big club hit, and drastically changed how the hip hop and dance music industries work.
