Stetsasonic is an American hip hop group formed in 1981 in Brooklyn, New York. It is remembered as one of the hip hop crews to use a live band, and the group's positive, uplifting lyrics made it forerunners of alternative hip hop and jazz rap. As a "hip hop band", the group were dependent on instruments as well as turntables and were well-known for their live shows.
The group signed to Tommy Boy Records and released their debut album, On Fire, in 1986. Although the album received mixed reviews, the follow-up albums In Full Gear and Blood, Sweat & No Tears were critically acclaimed. After the release of the latter, the group disbanded. Members Prince Paul, Daddy-O and Frukwan would go on to achieve successful solo careers in hip hop music.
After decades of being away, Stetsasonic resurfaced, started performing once again & even released a single and video in 2021 called NOW YA'LL GIVING UP LOVE. Presently they are working on a new album that is scheduled for release in 2022 called HERE WE GO AGAIN. The present members are Daddy-O, MC Delite, Wise, Prince Paul & Bobby Simmons.
