Spice 1 is the debut studio album by American rapper Spice 1, released in April 14, 1992 on Jive Records. It was produced by Ant Banks, Blackjack, E-A-Ski, CMT and Spice 1. Spice 1 introduces his hardcore, violent lyrics and gory inner city narratives that he would continue to utilise throughout his career, and the album deals with typical gangsta rap topics such as murder, guns and drugs. MC Ant makes the only guest appearance, and appears on the song "Break Yourself".
The album peaked at #14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The single "Welcome to the Ghetto" performed well, reaching #39 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #5 on the Rap Songs charts. Along with singles, music videos were made for the songs "In My Neighborhood", "Welcome to the Ghetto", "187 Proof" and "East Bay Gangsta".
