Simply Poetry is the only debut studio album by American female rapper The Poetess. It was released in August 4, 1992 via Interscope Records and Altantic Records. Recording sessions took place at Paramount Recording Studios, Kitchen Sync Studios, Eve-Jim Studios, Silver Lake Studios, Boulevard Sound and Love & Laughter in Los Angeles from September 1991 to June 1992. Production was handled by Def Jef, Miles Tackett, DJ Aladdin, Shafiq, Broadway, L.C., Darkside, The Baka Boyz, Love & Laughter and L.A. Posse, with Def Jef and Jerry Davis himself serving as executive producers. It includes guest appearances by Def Jef, Kool G Rap, Almight-T, Mad Kap and Jamie Foxx.
Simply Poetry spawned the singles: "Love Hurts", "Making Some Change" and "Let It Move You".
