Short Dog's in the House is the third studio album by American rapper Too $hort, released in September 11, 1990 on Jive Records. Recording sessions were held at One Little Indian Studios in El Cerrito and at Echo Sound Studios in Los Angeles from August 1989 to April 1990. Production was completely handled by Too $hort, Pierre "The Beat Fixer" James, DJ Pooh, Keenan "The Maestro" Foster, Al Eaton and Sir Jinx. It includes a guest appearance by Ice Cube. The album contains a number a mixture of socially conscious and dirty rap songs, the latter of which initially made Too $hort famous. The album's production samples a number of classic P-funk songs, as well as the heavy use of the Roland TR-808 for instrumentation.
The album was another success for Too $hort, eventually going Platinum in sales. It peaked at #20 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Short Dog's in the House spawned the singles: "The Ghetto" and "Short But Funky".
