Return of the Boom Bap is the debut solo studio album by American rapper from Bronx, New York KRS-One, released on September 23, 1993, on Jive Records. Unlike the majority of the Boogie Down Productions LPs, KRS-One took a step back from his producing duties and allowed DJ Premier, Showbiz, and Kid Capri to produce the songs instead in addition to his four contributions. The tracks ""P" Is Still Free" and "Black Cop" appeared on the soundtracks for Menace II Society and CB4 respectively, and were both labeled as songs by Boogie Down Productions when previously released on these albums. Ill Will Fulton makes an uncredited appearance on "Slap Them Up", and is the only rapper to supply a verse for the album.
Return of the Boom Bap peaked on the Billboard 200 charts at position 37. In 1998, the album was selected as one of the 100 Best Albums by The Source magazine.
