RBL Posse (an initialism of Ruthless by Law) was an American hip hop group from San Francisco, California. The group was founded in 1991 by rapper/producer Black C and rapper Mr. Cee, with rapper Hitman joining the group later. RBL Posse signed to the newly founded Oakland-based In-a-Minute Records, and released their debut album, A Lesson to Be Learned, in 1992. The group's second album Ruthless by Law, was released in 1994 and became their first album to reach the US Billboard 200 chart when it peaked at #197. In 1995, RBL Posse produced Hitman's debut solo album, Solo Creep.

Their impressive sales for regional independent releases attracted interest from major labels. RBL Posse signed to Atlantic Records subsidiary Big Beat in 1995. Before they could release any material on the label, Mr. Cee was shot nine times and killed near his San Francisco home on New Year's Day in 1996. Black C and Hitman continued with the RBL Posse name to release the album, An Eye for an Eye, in 1997.

RBL Posse's fourth album, Hostile Takeover, was released in 2001. It would prove to be the group's final album when Hitman was shot in the head and killed while driving in the Hunters Point section of San Francisco. Black C has continued to release solo albums.
