Ryan A. Thorburn (born January 10, 1974), known professionally as R.A. the Rugged Man, is an American rapper from Suffolk County, New York. His music career started at age of 12, building a reputation locally for his lyrical skills. In 1992, at age of 18, Thorburn signed to Jive Records and recorded his debut Night of the Bloody Apes as Crustified Dibbs but it was never released. He signed to Priority Records/EMI in 1995 and his contract was later absorbed with Capitol Records for whom he recorded a second unreleased album American Lowlife. Thorburn was featured on Rawkus Records's Soundbombing compilation albums, as well as the platinum selling WWF Aggression album in 2000.
Thorburn signed with independent label Nature Sounds and released his official debut album, Die, Rugged Man, Die, in 2004.
