Algernod Lanier Washington (born July 1, 1976), better known by his stage name Plies, is an American rapper from Fort Myers, Florida. He was a college football player but dropped out to pursue his music career and founded the record label Big Gates Records. His 2007 debut album, The Real Testament, peaked at #2 on the US Billboard 200 and was supported by the international charting singles "Shawty" featuring T-Pain and "Hypnotized" featuring Akon. Washington's second album, Definition of Real, also peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in 2008. His next two albums, Da REAList and Goon Affiliated, peaked at #14 and #5 on the Billboard 200 respectively.
