Original Flavor was an American hip hop group from New York City, New York. The group was founded by Suave Lover and Ski in 1991 after the latter had left North Carolina and moved to New York. The group signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut album This Is How It Is in 1992. After its release, Suave Lover left the group and was replaced by rapper T-Strong and DJ Chubby Chub. Original Flavor released their final album, Beyond Flavor, in 1994. The album is best remembered for the song "Can I Get Open", which features Jay Z in one of his earliest appearances and whom Ski would work with as a producer after Original Flavor's dissolution in late 1994.
