Ermias Joseph Asghedom (August 15, 1985 - March 31, 2019), better known by his stage name Nipsey Hussle (often stylised as Nipsey Hu$$le), was an American rapper from Los Angeles, California. His stage name was derived from comedian and actor Nipsey Russell. Asghedom initially became known for the release of several mixtapes, including his Bullets Ain't Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues and Crenshaw. After much delay, his debut studio album, Victory Lap, was released in 2018 to critical acclaim and commercial success and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019.
Asghedom was shot and killed outside his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019 allegedly by a rolling 60s member named Eric Holder. The two individuals exchanged brief conversation which in return escalated the situation furthermore. Eric returned back to the store at 3:25 with a semi automatic handgun and a revolver; fatally shooting Nipsey multiple times in the torso and head while also injuring two others. After being severely wounded, Nipsey’s last words were “You shot me.” Eric then kicked Nipsey in the head and fled the scene in a getaway vehicle. Minutes later Nipsey was rushed to a hospital where he would be pronounced dead shortly after at the tender age of 33. A manhunt for the suspect was underway following the untimely death of Nipsey. Two days later Eric holder was arrested for the murder of Nipsey . Nipsey was buried on April 11,2019 in forest lawn cemetery.
