Nastradamus is the fourth studio album by American rapper Nas, released in November 23, 1999 on Ill Will Records and Columbia Records. Recording sessions took place at Soundtrack Studios, Manhattan Center Studios, D&D Studios, The Hit Factory, Right Track Recording and Chung King Studios in New York City from August 1998 to September 1999. Production was solely provided by DJ Premier, L.E.S., Dame Grease, Havoc, Rich Nice, Timbaland, Nashiem Myrick and Carlos Bess. It features guest appearances by Ronald Isley, Mobb Deep, Ginuwine and Bravehearts members: Jungle, Grand Wiz and Nashawn. It was originally scheduled to be released as a follow-up album composed of material from recording sessions for his third album, I Am..., which was released one month earlier. Due to bootlegging of the material, Nas recorded new music for Nastradamus to meet its November release date.
The album debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, selling 232,000 copies in its first week. Nastradamus release the singles: "You Owe Me" and the title song "Nastradamus". On December 22, 1999, the album was certified platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Upon its release, Nastradamus received generally mixed reviews from music critics upon its release, and has been regarded by some as Nas' weakest effort. However, it achieved considerable commercial success and spawned the two charting singles.
