Michael Troy, better known by his stage name Myka 9, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. First rising to prominence as a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Myka 9 was instrumental in the Good Life Cafe scene in the early 1990s, and had a profound influence on Los Angeles underground hip hop and freestyle rap in general. Myka 9 is known for his rapid-fire, jazz-influenced, melodic rapping style, and often incorporates singing and occassionally rapping into his songs.

After releasing two albums as a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Myka 9 made his solo debut in 1999 with It's All Love. He has since released six additional solo albums, in addition to albums as a member of Freestyle Fellowship, Haiku D'Etat and Magic Heart Genies, and collaborative albums with Factor, Abstract Rude and Adriatic
