Nicholas Neil Carter (born March 16, 1978), better known by his stage name Murs, is an American rapper from Los Angeles, California. His stage name is an acronym or backronym for multiple meanings, including "Making the Universe Recognize and Submit" or "Making Underground Raw Shit".

Murs is a member of the groups 3 Melancholy Gypsys, Felt and Melrose, and The White Mandingos, and a former member of Living Legends. Murs has had an illustrious solo career, having released ten solo albums and eight collaboration albums.
