Mobb Deep was an American hip hop duo from Queens, New York. The duo consists of Havoc and Prodigy, and are one of the most critically acclaimed hardcore East Coast hip hop groups. They are known for their dark and hardcore delivery as exemplified in their magnum opus "Shook Ones Pt. II". Mobb Deep was one of the most successful hip hop duos in history, having sold over three million records.
Two of their albums, The Infamous, and Hell on Earth, have been critically acclaimed and are both considered to be classics among hip hop fans. They are partially credited for the resurgence of East Coast hip hop in the mid-1990s. Mobb Deep briefly disbanded in 2012 after a feud broke out between its members, but that was resolved in 2013 and they reunited for a 20th year anniversary tour and a new studio album. Their eighth studio album, The Infamous Mobb Deep, was released in 2014. Mobb Deep disbanded in 2017 after the death of Prodigy.
