Luther Nicholson (born July 6, 1989), better known by his stage name Lute, is an American rapper from Charlotte, North Carolina. He released his debut mixtape, West1996, in 2012. Shortly before the release of his second mixtape, Nicholson was signed to Dreamville Records by J. Cole. He made an appearance on the Dreamville compilation album Revenge of the Dreamers II in 2015 with his song "Still Slummin'". In 2017, Nicholson released his debut studio album, West1996 pt. 2.
Nicholson made two appearances on the 2019 Dreamville compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III. His feature on the song "Under the Sun" with J. Cole and DaBaby scored Nicholson his first US Billboard Hot 100 appearance when it debuted at #44 in 2019.
