Jonathan Smith (born 17 January 1971), better known by his stage name Lil Jon, is an American record producer, rapper, entrepreneur, DJ and actor from Atlanta, Georgia. He was the frontman of the group Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, which he formed in 1997 and released several albums with until 2004.
Lil Jon is credited in popularising crunk in the mainstream music scene, beginning with his 1997 album Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album. As a record producer, he has made hit urban singles for artists including Young Buck, Too Short, E-40 and Ying Yang Twins. His most well-known song is "Yeah!" by Usher, which he featured on, alongside Ludacris, and produced. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2005. Lil Jon's debut solo album, Crunk Rock, was released in 2010.
