Tsidi Ibrahim (born 26 November 1976), better known by her stage name Jean Grae, is an American rapper and record producer from Brooklyn, New York City. The daughter of South African jazz musicians, she was raised in New York City. She began her career under the name What? What? as a member of the groups Ground Zero and Natural Resource, before embarking as a solo artist under the name Jean Grae in the late-1990s.
Her debut album, Attack of the Attacking Things, was released in 2002. In 2004, she released her second album, This Week, which was followed by The Orchestral Files in 2008. That same year, she collaborated with record producer 9th Wonder on the album Jeanius. Grae's record label Babygrande used her vocals without her permission to create the collaborative album The Evil Jeanius with production duo Blue Sky Black Death in 2008, which Grae was largely unaware of until its announcement. Her most recent album is 2018's Everything's Fine, a collaboration with rapper Quelle Chris, who she became engaged to the year prior.
