Ishmael Reginald Butler (born 3 July 1969) is an American rapper, record producer and musician from Seattle, Washington. He is best known for being a member of the trio Digable Planets in the early 1990s, and was then known as Butterfly. Digable Planets broke up in 1995, and Butler pursued a solo career. In 2003, he released his debut solo album, Bright Black, under the stage name Cherrywine

In 2009, Butler formed the group Shabazz Palaces with his neighbor Tendai Maraire. Shabazz Palaces released two EPs independently, and then signed with Sub Pop Records. The group have released five studio albums since 2011.
