Insane Clown Posse, often abbreviated as ICP, is an American hip hop group from Detroit, Michigan. It is currently a duo consisting of rappers Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. Originally founded in 1989 as JJ Boys and later becoming known as Inner City Posse, the group was reduced to its current line-up before the release of their debut album under the Insane Clown Posse name, Carnival of Carnage, in 1992. Insane Clown Posse performs a style of hardcore hip hop known as horrorcore and is known for its elaborate live performances. The duo has earned two platinum and five gold albums. Insane Clown Posse has established a dedicated following called Juggalos that numbers in the tens of thousands. The group have released their entire discography through their own label, Psychopathic Records.
