Hell on Earth is the third studio album by American hip hop duo Mobb Deep, It was released on November 19, 1996 on Loud Records, RCA Records and BMG Records. It is a sequel to their previous effort, the critically acclaimed The Infamous. Recording sessions took place at Platinum Island Recording Studios and Axis Recording Studios in New York City through July 1995 to March 1996. Production was handled entirely by group member Havoc, with Schott Free, Matt Life and Mobb Deep themselves serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances by Illa Ghee, Nas, Raekwon, Method Man, Infamous Mobb members Big Twins and Ty Nitty and frequent collaborator Big Noyd.
Building on the sound of The Infamous, Havoc experimented with an eerie, atmospheric style of production, sampling pianos, string sections and film scores. Like their two previous albums, the lyrics explore with the themes of crime and violence, with more of a focus on retribution and payback.
It peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. Hell on Earth spawned the singles: "Drop a Gem On 'Em", "G.O.D. Part III" and "Front Lines (Hell on Earth). On April 9, 1997, the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Hell On Earth was met with widespread acclaim from music critics.
