"Hail Mary" is a song by American rapper Tupac Shakur under the stage name Makaveli. It is included on his final album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. The song features guest appearances from Outlawz members Kastro, Young Noble and Yaki Kadafi, and reggae artist Prince Ital Joe. The song captures Shakur zoning out the violence and negativity surrounding him, praying to God, and making biblical references. The song was completed in an hour, with Shakur writing his verses in fifteen minutes and producer Hurt-M-Badd making the beat in thirty minutes.
"Hail Mary" was released as a single in February 1997, four months after the release of The Don Killuminati. The single peaked at #8 on the Hot Rap Singles and #12 on the Hot R&B Singles charts. Despite its lack of commercial success at time of release, "Hail Mary" is one of Shakur's most wellknown songs. It is featured on Shakur's 1998 Greatest Hits album, and a remix of the song appeared on the album Nu-Mixx Klazzics in 2003.
