Byron Simpson, better known by his stage name Guilty Simpson, is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. He was a favourite of Detroit producer J Dilla, and the two collaborated on several occasions after Simpson made his debut on the J Dilla and Madlib collaboration album Champion Sound in 2003. Simpson signed to Stones Throw Records at the request of Dilla three years later. Simpson released his debut album, Ode to the Ghetto, on the label in 2008 to positive reviews from critics. His second album, the Madlib-produced OJ Simpson, was released two years later to more mediocre reviews.
In 2011, Simpson released the album Random Axe as part of a group of the same name that consisted of him, Sean Price and Black Milk. The following year, he teamed up with Apollo Brown to release the album Dice Game to critical acclaim. His latest album, Detroit's Story, was released in 2015.
