G-funk, or gangsta-funk, is a subgenre of hip hop music that emerged from West Coast hip hop in the early 1990s. G-funk production consists of highly synthesised and heavily sample driven sounds, predominantly sampled from Parliament-Funkadelic records. Cold 187um and Dr. Dre are the producers credited with pioneering g-funk.
