Funkdafied is the debut studio album from American Hip hop female artist Da Brat. It was released in May 17, 1994 through So So Def Recordings, Columbia Records and Sony Music Entertainment. After being discovered by Jermaine Dupri at a rap contest, Da Brat got signed to So So Def Recordings in 1992. Recording sessions took place at Kross Wire Studios in Atlanta, Georgia from May 1993 to February 1994. Production was handled entirely by Jermaine Dupri himself. It includes guest appearances by Kandi Burruss, Y-Tee (of Da Bush Babees), LaTocha Scott, Jermaine Dupri and Mac Daddy (of Kris Kross.
The album debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. Funkdafied spawned the three hit singles: "Fa' All Y'all" (which peaked at #37 on the Hot 100, #18 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and #5 on the Hot Rap Singles charts), "Give It 2 You" (which reached at #26 on the Hot 100, #11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and #3 on the Hot Rap Singles) and the title song "Funkdafied" (which debuted at #1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart, #6 on Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart).
Funkdafied was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with selling over 1,000,000 copies in its first week of sales, making her the first female rapper go to platinum.
