Follow the Leader is the second studio album by American hip hop duo Eric B. & Rakim, released in 1988 on Uni Records. The album was recorded at Power Play Studios in New York City, and was produced, arranged and composed by the duo, with additional contributions from Rakim's brother Steve Griffin.
While its singles attained moderate commercial success, the album performed better on music charts than the duo's debut album and reached number 22 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, having shipped 500,000 copies in the United States. Released during the golden age of hip hop, Follow the Leader was well received by critics and has since been recognised as one of the most groundbreaking, influential and greatest hip hop albums of all time.
