The Flavor Unit was an American hip hop collective of emcees and DJs from New York City and Northern New Jersey. The original version of the crew centered around producer The 45 King, with his connections to radio personalities Kool DJ Red Alert and DJ Chuck Chillout initially getting the crew noticed. The 45 King eventually fell into serious drug abuse and Queen Latifah took over the name, with the group becoming her umbrella organization.
Flavour Unit Management is run by Latifah and Shakim Compere.
