Dresta was affiliated with the Nutty Blocc Compton Crips, and was sentenced to five years imprisonment in 1988 after assaulting another gang member. While in jail, he began writing lyrics and rapping. Upon his release, he made his rapping debut in 1993 on Eazy-E's single "Real Muthaphuckkin G's" alongside his younger brother B.G. Knocc Out.
