Def Jam Recordings is an American record label, focused predominantly on hip hop and urban music. After being founded by Rick Rubin in his dorm at New York University, the label went on to become one of the most respected and well-known labels in hip hop music. The label also distributed and still distributes various record labels, including Roc-A-Fella Records, Kanye West's GOOD Music, Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace, and No I.D.'s ARTium Recordings.
