Dana McCleese (born September 6, 1965), known professionally as Dana Dane, is an American rapper and author from Brooklyn, New York. He is known for his humorous lyrics, fashion sense and artificial British accent.[1]
McCleese began his career as a member of the group Kangol Crew, which included his high school classmate Slick Rick. He launched his solo career when he signed to Profile Records after his high school graduation in 1985. McCleese's debut album, Dana Dane with Fame (1987), was his most successful and was certified gold in sales. It contained the song "Cinderfella Dana Dane", which reached #11 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. His second album, Dana Dane 4 Ever (1990), was his final album for Profile. His third and final album, Rollin' wit Dana Dane (1995), was released on Maverick.
McCleese released his first novel, Numbers, in 2009.
