The DMC World DJ Championships is a DJ competition hosted by Disco Mix Club, which has been held annually since 1985 excluding 1993. The event has become renowned as the ultimate DJ battle, and many world-renowned turntablists have entered the event. Originally intended to be a DJ mixing battle, DJ Cheese introduced scratching in his routine in 1986 and changed the course of future DMC battles. The DJs are allowed a period of six minutes to perform. DJ Rena of Japan is the youngest ever world champion at 12-years-old.
