Born to Mack is the first full length album and major label release by American rapper Too $hort, released in 1987 on Dangerous Music and rereleased in 1988 through Jive/RCA. The album features sexually explicit lyrics over strong synthesiser bass lines and Roland TR-808 drum programming.
The album was an underground sensation over a wide area of the United States, and reached #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It was eventually certified Gold by the RIAA. In 1998, the album was selected by The Source magazine as one of its 100 Best Albums. It has sold over 2,500,000 copies worldwide and is certified 2x platinum.
