Black Sunday is the second studio album by American hip hop group Cypress Hill. It was released on July 20, 1993 by Ruffhouse Records and Columbia Records. Recording sessions took place at Soundtrack Studios, Baby Monster Studios, Greene Street Recording and Chung King Studios in New York City and Studio 4 in Philadelphia from February 1992 to April 1993. Production was handled entirely by DJ Muggs, with the exception of one track produced by T-Ray.
The album debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 and on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with selling 261, 000 copies in its first week of sales and becoming the highest Soundscan recording for a rap group at the time. The album went Triple Platinum in the U.S., with 3.4 million units sold. Black Sunday released the singles: "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That", "Insane in the Brain", "When the Shit Goes Down" and "Lick a Shot".
