The Def Jam signee started releasing music to SoundCloud in 2017 but barely got any recognition until 2019 when he featured on Iann Dior’s “molly.” Jabs is still attending high school while making a Career online rapping. He has currently released 49 tracks and a single album.

Early Life[]

The Tifton, Georgia, native, born Stanley Flanders, Jr., knew at the age of five that he wanted to be a rapper. By the age thirteen, after being inspired by Lil Wayne the Student of hip-hop set up a bedroom studio, with the help of his parents, that enabled him to record and upload tracks to Soundcloud. In Bernard Jabs’ first uploaded track, Gotta Get It, there is the obvious sound of his younger teenage voice, but within that sound is also the raw skill Bernard holds. His ability to channel the charisma of the music he grew up on and blend it with more current rap trends keeps Bernard circulating as one of the brightest new talents of a generation.

At age 14, he met his two producers, Nick Mira and Sidepce, online after stealing a beat from them but they later agreed to collaborate after they knew he was good at what he does. Bernard Jabs the Young rapper almost dropped out of school to pursue Music, but his mother pushed him to graduate.

Career[]

A deal with Def Jam was struck in 2018. That year, Bernard Jabs also made his Commercial Debut with "Big Tymers," titled after Mannie Fresh and Birdman's late-'90s/2000s duo, and hit the road as a support act for Pusha T. The following February, Jabs released "Sticks," and a month later appeared on Def Jam's Undisputed compilation.

Only a week after that, he issued Coldhearted, an eight-track EP including his singles. Coldhearted has moments of somber reflection on life’s events, moments of teenage-boy humor, and plenty of young-man confidence. When asked about the name of the EP, Bernard said: “2018 has been one of the best years of my life, but I learned so much about people and have been treated so grimy by some of those same people, that I don’t care anymore.”

The Iann Dior collaboration "Come Again" arrived in August in the same year. Bernard Jabs’ story isn’t very different than many high school students in their bedrooms making music. From humble beginnings, Bernard’s drive and charisma continue to fuel him forward into the spotlight, all the while carrying the torch of the Southern rap that influenced him.
