Behind Bars is the third studio album by British-American Hip hop artist Slick Rick. It was released in November 22, 1994 via Def Jam Recordings. Recording sessions took place at Giant Recording Studios, Greene St. Recording, Soundtrack Studios, Acme Recording Studios and The Hit Factory in New York City and at Track Record in Los Angeles through August 1993 to March 1994. Production was handled by Large Professor, Paul Hutson, The Epitome of Scratch, Vance Wright, Slick Rick, Easy Mo Bee, Warren G, Greg Nice, Pete Rock and Warren G. It features guest appearances from Doug E. Fresh, Warren G and Nice & Smooth. The album was recorded while Rick was incarcerated.
The album peaked at #51 on the Billboard 200 and #11 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the United States. Behind Bars released the singles: "Sittin' In My Car" and the title track "Behind Bars" (which peaked at #87 on the Hot 100 and #63 on the Hot Black Singles charts).
