A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is the debut studio album by American hip hop group Black Sheep. It was released on October 22, 1991 through Mercury Records. Recording sessions took place at Calliope Studios in New York City during November 1990 to July 1991. Production was handled entirely by the duo themselves. It includes guest appearances by Q-Tip (of A Tribe Called Quest), Chi-Ali, Dave Gossett, Chris Lighty and Hot Dog (of The A.T.E.E.M.).
It debuted at #30 on the Billboard 200 and #15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing spawned the singles: "Strobelite Honey", "The Choice Is Yours", "Similak Child", "Try Counting Sheep" and "Flavor of the Month". The album was praised for its satirical nature, wittiness and imagination. In 1992, it was certified Gold by the RIAA after is sold over 500,000 copies in the United States.
