A Gangster and a Gentleman is the debut studio album by American rapper and The LOX member Styles P. It was released in July 9, 2002 via Ruff Ryders Entertainment and Interscope Records. Recording sessions took place at Powerhouse Studios, Sony Music Studios and YO! Entertainment Studios in New York City from August 2001 to March 2002. Production was handled by Swizz Beatz, Saint Denson, P. Killer Trackz, Mr. Devine, Rockwilder, Tank, The Alchemist, DURO, DJ Clue, Jay "Icepick" Jackson, Ayatollah, DJ Shok, Tuneheadz, DJ Twinz and Styles himself, with brothers Dee Dean and Waah Dean serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances by Garf, Lil' Mo, Angie Stone, Eve, Cross, J-Hood, Pharoahe Monch, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and M.O.P..
Styles was the second member of The LOX to record a solo album, after Jadakiss released his debut Kiss tha Game Goodbye in August 7, 2001.
The album debut at #6 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the US. On October 11, 2002, the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A Gangster and a Gentlemen spawned the singles: "Good Times", "Daddy Get That Cash" and "The Life".
