415 was an American hip hop group from Oakland, California. The group originally consisted of rappers Richie Rich and D-Loc, and producers DJ Daryl and J.E.D. The group takes its name from the telephone area code 415, which originally served San Francisco and Oakland. 415 released their debut album, 41Fivin, in 1990 on independent label Big League Records, Inc.
415 signed a major-label deal with Priority Records based off of the strength of their debut, but Richie Rich was arrested for possession of cocaine and sentenced to jail. Subsequently, 415 released their second album, Nu N****z on tha Blokkk, in 1991 without his contribution and enlisted rapper Brotha Broski to serve as his replacement. The group disbanded sometime after its release.
