He is one of the founding members of the original version of the Flavor Unit. His stage name refers to the so-called Lost Tribe of Shabazz, which is based on the teaching of Wallace Fard Muhammad. As an artist signed to Tuff City, Shabazz first gained recognition when he provided vocals for the vocal version of "The 900 Number" by DJ Mark the 45 King. In 1988, his debut album,Β Pure Righteousness, was released. The album was well received, and has become an iconic release of the period in hip hop music when the Islam-related style was popular. He released a second album in 1990. His miltant lyrics were predominantly about his love of the Nation of Islam and his dedication to the Nation of Gods and Earths, the latter of which he was a member. He briefly worked with Diamond D in the early 1990s, and then disappeared from the hip hop scene. He currently lives in New Jersey. ==Discography== *1988: Pure Righteousness *1990: The Lost Tribe of Shabazz
